Understanding BIS Hallmarking & HUID

At Aura & Carat, 100% of our gold jewellery is certified under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Every article carries the three mandatory hallmark marks for consumer protection.

1. BIS Standard Mark

The triangular BIS logo authenticates that the piece is tested at an approved Assaying and Hallmarking Centre (AHC).

2. Purity & Fineness Stamp

Specifies the exact gold karat: 22K916 (91.6% pure), 18K750 (75% pure), or 14K585 (58.5% pure).

3. 6-Character Laser HUID

A unique alphanumeric Hallmark Unique Identification code laser-etched onto each individual piece for traceability on the official BIS CARE app.

How to Verify Your Jewellery on the Official BIS CARE App

  1. Download the official BIS CARE mobile application launched by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Government of India.
  2. Click on "Verify HUID" on the home screen.
  3. Enter the 6-character alphanumeric code printed on your jewellery tag and invoice (e.g. HUID883921).
  4. The app will display the jeweller's registration name, assaying centre details, date of hallmarking, and tested metal purity.
All gross weight and net gold weights are verified on Class-II electronic balances calibrated under Legal Metrology standards.
